Creative Explorers - 5 years old to 12 years old 

 

Our School Age academic enrichment program provides safe, convenient, and fun curriculum and fitness clubs that are offered before and after school hours, and during most school closures. In our community, your child will find friendly faces and caring hearts and an environment that helps them learn and grow every day.   

 

Urban Kids Montessori has strategically organized our School Age Program into two parts so that your child is exposed to our high academic quality and incurs a well-rounded development.

 

Before School – In the first part of the School Age Program, your child will begin his/her day with simple and educational activities. Our daily printing and cursive writing practice sheets have been developed as high quality supplementary educational material for elementary school children. These exercises develop and improve your child's writing skills along with comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary usage. Your child will find our writing program a fun and rewarding experience.

 

After School – In the second half of our School Age Program, your child will have the option to participate in a large range of activities. To begin, the classroom is organized into numerous stations including:

1. Homework Support

At this station, children will be able to complete their homework that was assigned at school. At this quiet station, a teacher will be available for appropriate guidance to make this an educational but fun experience.

2. English Smart

This station provides ample practice for developing and improving English skills. Teachers provide concise explanations with examples to guide children along. The systematically designed activities cover the key areas of learning, reading comprehension, grammar vocabulary, and writing. Your child will find working at this station a fun and rewarding experience. 

3. Math Success

This station provides plenty of interesting and systematic practice for developing and improving your child's math skills. Through this program, your child not only understands the concept better and masters the necessary skills, but he/she will be able to apply them in solving math problems in real life situations. 

4. Science Experiments 

This station has been developed to expose and teach your child about the world they live in. Your child will have the opportunity to participate in simple science experiments as well as field trips which acquaint children to science vocabulary and experts of the field.

5. Art

This station gives your child the opportunity to participate in making collages, painting, 2D and 3D art, and working with various materials in the clay studio.  

6. Free play 

Each child is encouraged to use his/her imagination to participate in small group activities such as building blocks, reading books, or having fun with puzzles and board games.   

7. Character Education 

At Urban Kids, we believe it is important to reinforce values introduced at home. Each month, a value, such as loyalty or acceptance, is introduced to your child throughout the program activities, enabling him/her to better understand the society in which we live in, and how to interact successfully with others. Your child will be invited to write a class pledge to promote loyalty to their Urban Kids friends and teachers. 

 

Urban Kids Montessori is proud to offer curriculum that involves six key areas of study. Within each one of our five programs, a distinct collection of these will be found to help your child prepare for future endeavors, whether it be an educational or athletic passion, or both.
